Formed in 1996, SAS Sports was created by veteran sports executive Ken Shepard and current Omaha Royals Senior VP & General Manager Doug Stewart.  Shortly after formation of the company, Shepard bought out his partner and became the sole owner of SAS Sports.

SAS Sports is the founder and operator of the Mid Atlantic Sports Seminar (MASS), first hosted in Wilmington, DE in the fall of 1997. The MASS was attended by hundreds of sports executives throughout the sports and entertainment industry.

Shepard, a 20+ year award winning sports executive & owner and SAS Sports, have help build several clients into profitable entities including: the Prince William Cannons, Wilmington Blue Rocks, Savannah Sand Gnats, West Palm Beach Tropics, Atlantic City Surf, Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, Anchorage Aces Hockey. SAS Sports has played a major role in the start up of three professional sports franchises and two stadiums. Shepard has won the Larry MacPhail Marketing and Promotional Award 1988 & 1996 for best promotional efforts Carolina League (1988) and all of minor league baseball (1996). He is past winner of the “Best Marketing Presentation” Award at the Minor League Baseball El Paso Promotional Seminar. In the collegiate realm, Shepard has been guest speaker at several Georgia Southern Sports Management Conferences and Collegiate Sports Management banquets

A graduate of the highly acclaimed St. Thomas University Sports Administration program in Miami, Florida where Shepard earned his Bachelor’s degree, he resides in Savannah, GA with his wife and two children.
